PCC Expects Record Enrollment As Classes Begin Tuesday

Despite the recession, one community college in Eastern Carolina expects record enrollment when students return Tuesday.

Pitt Community College says it is an open enrollment institution, so final enrollment figures have not yet been determined.

But the college says the school has seen a record number of students apply for financial aid this semester. So far PCC says it's received more than 7,800 financial applications for the fall semester, compared to 8,400 for the entire 2008-09 school year.

I work at Beaufort Community College. We're seeing similar increases in enrollment. (not the same numbers - but higher enrollment than last year)
