It's a first of its kind medical unit in eastern Carolina to serve the needs of neurological patients all in one place.
The redesigned third floor of the East Carolina Heart Institute north tower at PCMH is now home to the new neurosciences unit. This will allow neurosurgeons, neurologists, nurses and others physicians to be in one place for their patients.
The services now in the neurosciences unit used to be spread out. This unit will have 35 to 44 beds for patients and even have a physical therapy room just down the hall instead of going to a larger gym.
This center will have specialists for stroke care all on the same floor. We're told this unit is the only one of its kind east of I-95.
