State Trooper Involved In Accident

It's not too often a State Trooper is involved in an accident, but that is what happened Tuesday night in Greenville.

Sergeant Ernie Coleman with the Highway Patrol says a State Trooper was leaving the station on 10th street attempting to make a left when a Jeep Wrangler collided with the Trooper's Dodge Charger.

Coleman says the wreck is still under investigation, but called the situation a "freak accident" and expects no charges to be filed. No injuries were reported.

Troopers do give breaks...I am a living example. The trooper could of written me for several tickets, but listened to why i made the driving manueaver i did and he agreed that he would of done the same thing...albeit speeding had to occur to avoid the accident and that is where i was at fault. I ended up with nothing. Just dont give them an attitude and own up to what you were doing. However, if you are driving drunk or intoxicated, you DESERVE every charge they can put on you. I lost my fiance and an unborn child to a drunk driver. There is not a year that goes by that i dont think about them both and what could of been...There are some that can be jerks, but honesty will work wonders in the public's dealings w/all LEO.

Give it up guys. The negative commenters here are people that troll this website looking for articles like this to spout off on. I've been a LEO for over 30 years. I think the majority of the public appreciates us, but the haters out there never will. They don't have the guts to do our job, and they resent us for having what they don't: courage. Don't let the spiteful commenters get you down. You've probably cited or arrested the whiners here at some point in their lives and you probably will again. The truth is that we and only we, know what we go through each day. Nobody else can possibly understand. Hang in there and stay safe.

I saw that accident the other night. Exiting the HP station on 10th street is a very dangerous exit. I took my driver's license test there many, many years ago and almost got hit while exiting. It is a wonder they don't have more collisions of this nature. Get over the fact there was a NCSHP Trooper involved. I am fairly certain neither party wanted to be involved in an accident!

You people have no lives. Sitting here monday quarterbacking the incident. Acting like you think that your voice is being heard or if someone cares. Let me assure you that no one cares about how you think the situation shold be handled. Get a hobby people.

Service members are being killed for our freedom in a wasteland overseas, and all you guys can argue about is a trooper involved in a wreck.

Anonymous I do agree with you about the negativity, racism, and general hate comments on here everyday, but I have to agree with Mr.T about double standard we all should face the same law when it comes to accidents. I mean it happens and no one intentionly goes out to have accident it just something that happens, but some of us(not only law enforcemnts) gets the charges dropped or don't get charged at all even if someone dies and others just get dragged to court and healthy pay fines even is no one is hurt. So judicial system is crap.

Anonymous from Greenville at 12:23PM, nobody makes you read the comment section. If it is too strong for you, when you get to the bottom of the story, go on to another story and don't read the comments.WITN even includes the more stories section as a buffer zone so you don't see a comment by accident that you don't want to see.
