Power has been restored to the 1,300 Greenville Utilities customers who lost power for a time early Monday morning.
A person working in the Greenville Utilities Commission 24-Hour Control Room told WITN, lightning may have hit a riser in the area of B's Barbecue Rd. and MacGregor Downs Rd. in Greenville around 2 a.m. Monday. If the lightning did not directly hit the riser, it in someway affected it.
Officials say it took crews about 40 minutes to restore power to 80 percent of the people who lost electricity. All power was restored by 3:30 a.m.
Progress Energy reported a few power outages early Monday as well, including in Lenoir, Craven and Carteret Counties. It's not clear what exactly caused those outages.
