Fan Give Away

As we head into the first official weekend of the summer we're in for some hot temperatures. And for senior citizens without air conditioning that can be a deadly combination.

To help them beat the heat, Greenville Utilities dropped off fifty box fans to the Pitt County Council and fifty more to the Department of Social Services in Greenville.

The agencies will distribute the fans to the elderly, handicapped and qualifying families.

Greenville Utilities has participated in the fan give-away for the past 17 years.

What are the requirements for a qualifying family? A sofa on the front porch. More than 2 kids that you really aren't sure who the daddy is? Or a household where able bodied adults are too sorry to work, had rather sit on the porch and wait for the welfare check and the food stamps to come, sleep all day, and hang out in the street all night.
