Residents in Greenville may see a slight change in their utility bill this year.

The Greenville City Council voted Thursday night to approve rate increases proposed by Greenville Utilities.

The rate adjustments include a 4.9 percent bump in sewer effective on July first.

GUC says the average customer will see a $1.37 spike in their monthly bill.

Electric is expected to go up as of October first.

Customers will feel an impact of $3.67 on average.

There were no rate adjustments for water or gas.

We have only one Utility Company and they can get away with what they want. We do not have an opiton to switch. What most homeowners do not realize is that if you live in an apartment complex with a dumpster. You are charged on your bill approximately $11.00 a month as a surcharge per apartment. Think of the money being racked in on a complex with 200-300 units.

THIS is RIDICULOUS. People aren't going to be able to have electricity before too long if they keep increasing. Over the past 9 years it has increased every single year for NO REASON. (dont even try to give me one because its not worth it) Better stock up on candles and charcoal to keep warm for the winter.

What I would like to say about this, would not be posted. So, I will say that maybe they should cut their higher management salaries and do more with less employees.

NC should change the license plate from "First In Flight" to "First In Tax Hikes". Lawmakers-cut the pork and shrink this overinflated, wasteful state government. Each year, I work more and earn less!
