In honor of older Americans month, about 80 senior citizens participated in a special ceremony Thursday.
A program full of valuable information and community resources was presented in Greenville covering a wide variety of topics ranging from fall prevention and medication safety, to hospice care and coping with the loss of a loved one.
To honor the seniors, roses and carnations were given to all in attendance, as well as cake and other refreshments. Organizers of the event say it's a great way to reach out to the senior citizen community.
Another topic during the meeting was the importance of flu vaccinations with an update on the swine flu.
