Ring City Rollers

They are Insurance Sales Women, Lab Technicians, even Disability Teachers, but when they lace up their skates and hit the rink, they can be whoever they want.

We are talking about Roller Derby Girls and the past few years there's been a revival of the sport, known for girls putting on their skates and hitting each other.

There is a Derby team right here in Eastern Carolina called the Ring City Rollers. Derby Girl Amanda Martin says "there's days at work when you get real frustrated or you have a bad day, or somebody says something that makes you angry, you come here and you hit it all out, you take it out on your teammate, and enjoy it when you do it." Any woman who is 18 years or older, with any profession or personality can join.

Derby Girl Elizabeth Baynor says "you see tall short big small teachers, people who you just would think oh their really shy and then they get out here and go argghhh."

These girls even get their own derby names, one girls name is Impending Zoom, another Lucky Scars. But what they say the love the most is the exercise and friendship. For more information on the Ring City Rollers click on the link below.
