All lanes of Highway 264 in Pitt County are re-opened after an accident sent rescue crews scrambling from two counties.

The highway was closed for more than an hour from Old Washington Road to Grimesland Bridge Road.

Troopers say a pickup truck pulled out from Grimesland Bridge Road and was hit by an SUV traveling east on 264.

The wreck happened shortly before 12:30 p.m.

Troopers say the pickup flipped over and landed in the median while the SUV landed on top. There is no traffic light at the intersection, just a stop sign for traffic on the side road.

The driver of the pickup truck was trapped inside for almost 45 minutes.

Three people were taken to local hospitals.

Troopers have identified the pick up truck driver as 60 year old Jesse Daniels of Greenville, authorities say he was pretty bruised up but his injuries are non life threatening. The other two victims were not seriously injured either.
