Part of Greenville's history will be imploded at the end of the week.
City officials say the old Imperial Tobacco smokestack will be taken down by an implosion Friday afternoon.
The 200 foot high brick structure was damaged in an arson fire last year which destroyed most of the remaining warehouse.
Last month crews tired to use cables to pull down the smokestack, but that didn't work.
The city says the plan is to implode the structure between noon and 4:00 p.m. A 500 foot perimeter will be set up and warning whistles will be sounded just prior to the blasting.
