Turnage Laid To Rest

The funeral for a teenager shot and killed after police say he took part in an armed robbery was held in Greenville Friday.

Nearly 300 people turned out for 18 year-old Tony Turnage's funeral.

Turnage was shot and killed one week ago after police say he and three other young men robbed Kenneth Sprouse's Greenville apartment.

Sprouse, 20 years-old, is charged with second degree murder.

I think the charges should be dropped on Ken he was protecting his home and family. If someone robbed you what would you do ? Where I come from your home is yours not anyone elses and you have the right to defend it no matter what is going on.Good luck Ken.No one sees what goes on outside school or in the early hours every normal person is sleeping not robbing homes. So he might of been a football player but also a thief that he obviouslly hid very well.

They were both criminals. It doesn't matter who did what in the past or who volunteered here, there, whatever. Fact is at that particulair point, they were both criminals. Drug dealer versus drug user/robber. I'd protect my property (home, personal property, etc.) as well, just as Sprouse did. One bad mistake? It only takes 1 bad mistake to end up 6 feet under whether it was the first time or the 100th time. Drug dealers are bad, but to turn Turnage into the victim is just wrong. Had he and the rest of his thugs not attempted to rob Sprouse we wouldn't even been talking about this.

Nobody is trying to make this kid a martyr. Why make what appears to be a DRUG DEALER a martyr. This same guy was volunteering around kids at Rose High School. Why he (the shooter) may have been using these kids to sell drugs. I feel that there is more behind this story. I'm not feeling sorry for the shooter at all! I feel that the comments are inappropriate. None of you knew anything about this 18 year old. I was at the funeral and I just don't believe everybody that spoke and said good things about this young man lied. The Rose High School football coach was in tears, speaking about this young man. Amelia you know nothing about this young man. Don't judge a book by it's cover.I don't feel we need to make Kenneth Sprouse a hero neither! I hope and pray Kenneth Sprouse goes to jail for DRUGS and the MURDER! Kenneth Sprouse wasn't protecting his HOME, he was protecting his stash of DRUGS!

There are so many intelligent, hard-working 18 year olds who are making a difference in our community, why are we attempting to make this kid a hero? I'm sorry he died in the commission of a felony; however...let's recognize the good, decent youth of our community. Don't make him out to be a martyr. He isn't.

This whole situation is stupid. Kenneth Sprouse shouldn't be charged with anything. He was just taking care of his home and safety. If the kid didn't wanna get shot he should have stayed outside the house.

Cynthia I agree with you these people up here make it seem like DEALING DRUGS is a good thing as long as you don't get robbed! They ALL are criminals no matter how you look at this situation!! Point blank!

to: Jim , Why is this news? Because they are trying to make a thief look like a victim ! You take part in robbery and you get what you deserve . SHOT !

I think the only thing that should be taken off are the disgusting comments. This young man was a teenager that made a bad choice. The person holding the gun called the police but deicided to shoot this teenager in the back. Also, I want to add that the persin being robbed wasn't so innocent himself. It appears he was a DRUG DEALER! What if it was your brother or son this person had shot. Would your comments be the same? I have to commend WITN for reporting on this incident. What's so hilarious about burying your only son?
