Reaction To Arrest Of JR. ROTC Teacher

Parents are reacting to news that a JR. ROTC teacher at Ayden-Grifton high school in Pitt County was arrested and charged with indecent liberties with a student.

Parents that spoke with WITN on Wednesday expressed anger and outrage.

Police say 43 year-old Joseph Mitchell turned himself in Wednesday morning after allegedly inappropriately touching a 14-year old female student from Ayden-Grifton high school on March, 6th.

Pitt County Schools say Mitchell has been on paid administrative leave since the alleged incident.

Dorothy Cormon is a guardian of several students at Ayden-Grifton high school. Cormon says, "I feel that if it were to be one of my children, yeah, I would look for him to go to prison."

Mitchell is due in court Thursday morning.

Pitt County Schools say it is unclear if they will find a permanent replacement to fill Mitchell's position.
