Sexual Assault Reported At ECU

Police are looking for three young men they say sexually assaulted a woman in her dorm room at East Carolina University.

Police say the men were in a green, early 1990's model Chevrolet Camaro. Police say the student met the men when they asked her for directions at the corner of 11th and Charles Blvd., and offered her a ride home.

Police say the men were looking for directions to the Tar River area. The four rode around for a while, police say, before going to where the woman lives at Clement Hall, a dorm at ECU.

Police say the sexual assault took place in the woman's dorm room. When the woman woke up at 10 a.m. Saturday, police say the three men were gone and had stolen some personal items from the room.

Police did not say when the woman initially met the men she says assaulted her.

To me: but....she asked for it? Is that what you're trying to say? I hope your 4 year old doesn't ever make a bad decision in her life, but chances are she will. And, when she does, I hope no one says she asked for it or ........(you fill in the blank)

Yes, a bad decission to let them in the dorm but she was drugged and could not make a clear decision. By no means should this young girl be at fault. She was the victum and these men need to be caught and brought to justice. I hope the Greenville police does not let this one go. This is serious. We all need the descriptions of these men so we can all be safe.

No matter if the girl let them in or not we have to remember that she is the victum and has feelings. This should not happen to anyone. We need the police to give the descriptions of these 3 men and so they can be found and punished by the law to the fullest. It is not her fault. What kind of trash goes around doing this to young women? Please give the descriptions of these men and try to find out what the license plate number is, fast. We are not safe until you do.

No one should suffer assault. In the video clip, Officer Edwards comments "...inviting them to spend the night." Not having resided at ECU campus, I cannot speak to the dorm rules; I do find it of interest that such an invitation was reported. Perhaps security cameras would be of value?

No question that the 3 males, if quilty (thank the Duke scandal for that one), should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. But honestly folks....that was a VERY stupid thing to do and in fact not only did the girl make a terrible decision she make several terrible decisions. And she put countless other female students in harms way. She let these criminals in the dorm. Thanks to ECU's and others schools policies every other female in that dorm had no weapons for defense. There could have been many more victims. She may not have commited a crime but she probably did break numerous ECU policies.

I cannot believe the comments that seem to blame the victim. We've all made unwise decisions. The thing that needs to be remembered is that this young woman was assaulted. The focus should be on the 3 bafoons who did this, not the girl. She didn't commit a crime. They did.

I didn't read anything about rape. The race and age of the boys were released, but it will not help you identify them. The description of the car is the best way to identify them. They should turn themselves in and tell their side of the story before the situation gets worse.

It doesn't matter what the victim did the fact of the matter is that this has happened to this poor girl. If you want to attack someone then go out looking for a green camaro and find these guys. Yes, people should be more careful but what gives three guys the right to take advantage of this girl and hurt her. I think that a description should be given of these three guys because I would love to know who did this terrible thing to this girl whose just trying to make something of herself by going to college instead these three hooligans are spending their time raping and stealing. Sounds like to me we need use our energy to stand up against these hooligans instead of using energy to attack the victim. This is the reason why a lot of victims don't come forward because they fear of how others will attack or view them. It's time to give victims the support they need and stop with the woulda coulda shouldas.

I'm just wondering why WITN can't get a current picture of an ECU police car. This is a 1991 model Chevrolet Caprice! Their graphics look awesome now and they haven't used that striping scheme in ten years.
