Fast and furious. That is how residents in one neighborhood describe a scary moment when a tornado touched down in Greenville Friday evening.

Destruction hit the neighborhood of Ashcroft Drive near Fire Tower Road.

Officials confirmed a tornado did touchdown just after 6 PM.

People in the neighborhood described the tornado sounding like loud thunder. Many witnesses say the twister lasted less than 15 seconds but damage was done.

About a dozen homes were hit causing holes in roofs, broken windows, damaged fences, and an array of debris filled the street. It's something Drew Mitchell was very shocked to see when he came home from work.

Police say nobody was injured. Authorities stayed through the night helping residents board up broken windows making sure all residents were safe.
