Previous Story:
A bicyclist has been run over by an East Carolina University bus Thursday afternoon.

It happened around 1:00 p.m. near the intersection of 10th Street and Lawrence Street, that's near the ECU library.

A university spokeswoman says the bicyclist has been transported to Pitt County Memorial Hospital.

Police say the bus ran over the bicyclist. A witness told WITN News that both the bike and the bus were on Lawrence Street. The witness says the bicyclist started to pull out while the bus was making a right turn.

There's no immediate word on how serious the bicyclist was injured.

It was the second time this week that an ECU bus was involved in an accident around 10th Street.

Earlier in the week, the bucket from a cherry picker truck struck a university bus. That mishap broke out several windows on the bus, but no one was injured.

I am reminded of the stinch that is hovering in the air in greenville over race relations. It burns my nostrils. I am blinded by the ignorance of some of your opinions. Can't we all just get along. The accusations are uneducatedly unfair to all parties involved Albeit families of the loss and living!

i KNOW the guy that was driving the bus and it's absolutely ridiculous that you idiots are saying he set out to hit a black guy that day. you don't even know what you're talking about, or know the guy that was driving. just talking about things you have no idea about, as usual.

Why....Look it doesnt matter if the man was white, black, purple, or green...that is not the point...it was an accident...I am multiracial and i think that it was an accident... it wasnt like the man woke up and say hey lets see who i can hit with the bus today...Gosh people need to be open minded everytime something happen the first thing people bring up is RACE RACE RACE and sometimes it RACE doesnt even have nothing to do with it....The point is for people to realize that this man has been hit by a freakin bus and he is dead it was an accident it wasnt intentional at all...I am sure the family understands that.

Is it stated anywhere if the bicyclist was wearing a helmet? I'm just curious, as an avid cyclist.

To everyone that thinks that they know it all, think before you speak. First to the person that made the comment that the police needs to regulate this and that, I think that they are stretched pretty far now as it is and when is enough ever good enough for you? When they are watching that you will be complaining that they are not getting to you fast enough. B Truth what you said was really ugly. Regardless of the race, someone is at fault and needs to pay and no matter what the race you would be doing the same thing. Last, people if you don't know what you are talking about, keep it to yourself. People were on the bus and saw what happened. The cyclist was traveling east on 10th street and the buse driver was at a stop sign which means to stop and it doesn't matter who you are, you have to stop. It was an accident and no one set out to kill any one or to get killed, but it happened and one family is burying a loved one. Bus driver keep your head up. Everyone else grow up!!!

Redneck Woman... you are very welcome. ..Sometimes the same things that separates us also unites us. You being white, and black, yet we still interrupted the accident the exact same way. It was an accident... it was an accident

B truth... as a matter of fact.. don't even answer my question... because I wouldn't give two monkey arses to know what your racist answer would've been.

B truth... since I'm more than one race... who are these "my people" you are referring to?

You know I just reread the articles and it wasn't until I saw the picture that I knew the guy on the bike was Black. Where does it state the race of the bus driver. If all of you people saw this and know the color of the driver then tell the cops so this BS will stop and that poor man can get on with his life
