Second Suspect Arrested In Robbery, Search For Driver

A second man is charged after a convenience store was held up at gunpoint in Pitt County. Police are also searching for the driver of the getaway car.

It happened last month at the 427 Mart Store off Old River Road in Pitt County, about 8:30 in the morning.

Byron Speight, age 21 of Greenville, was arrested Wednesday. A Williamston man, 20-year-old Adrian Bell, was arrested earlier this month in connection with the robbery.

During the robbery, owner Khalid Qoran was also hit over the head with a bottle. He was not seriously hurt.

The robbers took about $2300.

The Pitt County Sheriff's Office is asking anyone with information on the driver of the getaway car to call (252)830-4141.

Let this be an eye opener to all that armed robberies can happen at anytime. Its good to always be aware of what is going on around you. As you never know what might be going on inside of a store that you are about to enter or that you are outside of pumping gas.
