School System Truck Flips In Greenville Accident

Two people were hurt in a morning accident where a school system vehicle flipped over several times.

It happened on County Home Road in Greenville, near the recycling center at around 8:50 a.m.

The crash involved a Pitt County Schools facilities truck and a van.

A witness told WITN News that the van crossed the center line and struck the school truck, causing it to flip over several times before landing on its top. The van ended up in a ditch.

A passerby pulled the school system employee out of the truck, who was said to be alert and talking. There is no immediate word on the extent of injuries.

Traffic on County Home Road was backed up as wrecker crews pulled the two vehicles from the scene.

I saw a van flipped upside down on Greenville Blvd last month. The speed limit is not the problem. Thank goodness these drivers were okay, I saw the truck. There are wrecks on 35-45 mph roads in Greenville every day. Safety has more to do with paying attention to the road in front of us. I'm confused though, who would send a 70 year old to get groceries for her work place? She is said to have passed out and crossed the center line, is this the same person?

Get a job? Both were on a work related errands. But, you know what they say, ignorance is bliss.

I agree the speed limit needs to be lowered on this road. I drive it almost everyday and if you are not watching out you can come up on cars turning into the Farmer's Market, dump, etc before you realize it.

Before you make any hasty judgements on this find out what exactly happened. The person driving the van was not speeding, or anything of that nature. She was going to the grocery store for her work place. We are not exactly sure what happened to her. We just know what she has told us.

I have had concerns over the past couple of years since they had to extend the soccer field parking across County Home Rd from where the soccer fields. With the Farmer's Market, the soccer field and lots of traffic it is a recipe for someone to get hurt there! They need to do something NOW before it's too late!

The speed limit on this road b/w Windsor subdivision and Worthington Road must be changed to 45 mph.
