Teens Escape Burning Home

Two teenagers escaped their burning home Friday afternoon in Pitt County.

The fire ripped through the house in the Bell Arthur community.

Officials say the two teens told them they were in the house and heard what they thought was wind. Officials say the teens told them they opened the door, and a fire in an attached shed in the carport rushed in. The teens were not hurt.

Stantonsburg Road was blocked in both directions by fire trucks, just west of Mozingo Road.

Farmville, Bell Arthur and Red Oak fire departments were on the scene.

Almost the entire roof of the house is gone. A car adjacent to the home caught fire as well.

No word on a cause yet.
