Long Lines At PCC As Parents And Students Seek Help With FAFSA Forms

If you got to PCC late Saturday morning as staff members were helping high school students and parents fill out financial aid forms you were likely to see very long lines.

Pitt Community College was the host of FAFSA day or Free Application For Federal Student Aid.

The college was packed with parents and students getting the crucial information they need to apply for financial aid for school.

Event organizers think this is one of their biggest turnouts. Joanne Ceres who works for the college says, "it's been a very busy day. We had 184 people pre-register for this event. Compared to about 150 people total last year who showed up. We are anxious at the end of the day to see how many people show up but we think its a record number."

PCC plans to host another event like this in the coming months.

The College Foundation of North Carolina says there is about 300 million dollars in scholarship and grant money available.

The deadline for applying for that is March 1st.
