Video Store Fire Ruled Intentionally Set

Investigators say a fire this morning at a Greenville video store was intentionally set.

Police responded to Automaton Movies at 10th & Charles Streets to a burglar alarm call at 4:15 a.m. When police arrived they spotted the fire and alerted firefighters. There are reports a back door to the business was found open.

Firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading to the Campus Store and the Campus Bookstore, which are in the same shopping center. The fire department says the structure itself is okay, but the video store's contents received significant damage.

The fire department says the fire began behind a vending machine in the rear of the business.

I came by about 6 am there were still lots of Police and Firefighters there, but I wasn't sure at the time what was going on. Isn't the Campus Store open 24 hrs?

This just makes me sick to my stomach, how someone could do such a thing. The store did not take cash and only accepted credit/debit cards so it is not like this person could have gotten any money. I agree with you Jenna. I truly hope that investigators find some sort of evidence to lead them to find the horrible person that did this. Hopefully this movie store can be re-opened because it was a very good business.

How someone can do something like that is unreal. What good did it do them...nothing? I watched the owner make that movie store from nothing and am deeply upset for him. The fact that people get satisfaction by ruining other's hopes, dreams and accomplishments baffles me.
