The Pitt County Sheriff's Office says deputies made a fourth arrest Thursday in the attempted murder of a Fountain man.
The Sheriff's Office says 28-year-old Samuel Melton Jr. of Stamper Street in Fountain is charged with accessory after the fact and is being held on a $1 million secured bond.
Earlier Thursday Sheriff Neil Elks announced 3 others were charged in connection with the shooting of 32-year-old Anthony Parker. He was shot in the head outside his home on Lynch Street in Fountain May 28th.
Investigators say the motive for the shooting was robbery.
Parker was left in a coma after the shooting. On Thursday, his family said he was in good condition and breathing on his own.
Three people have been arrested for the attempted murder of a Fountain man, including a 15 year old boy.
That victim remains in a coma.
Sheriff Neil Elks says 23-year-old Lemario Melton and 26-year-old Anthony Phillips were arrested around 4 a.m. Thursday in connection to the attempted murder of Anthony Parker. The sheriff says a 15-year-old has also been arrested in the case.
The two adults went before a district judge this morning and more details are expected to be released later this afternoon.
Investigators said 32-year-old Parker was shot in the head on Tuesday, May 28th outside his home on Lynch Street and left in the front yard.
At last check, Parker was still in a coma.
Jailers said two men were brought into jail around the same time early Thursday morning on charges of attempted first degree murder.
Deputies said the Pitt County Sheriff's Office arrested 23-year-old Lemario Melton and 26-year-old Anthony Phillips around 4 a.m. on Thursday. Phillips is from Fountain. Melton's address is listed as US 264 Highway Alternate.
Deputies said each man is charged with attempted first degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon intent to kill inflicting serious injury, and robbery with a dangerous weapon.
Both men had a bond set at $2 million and have a first court appearance scheduled for Thursday morning.
The Pitt County Sheriff's Office has not answered questions about what case the two are connected to.
