It's a hot topic for one school system in the east that will determine how to juggle students among new schools next year.
Pitt County Schools has proposed a total of six maps for redistricting options for elementary and middle school students- and the school board hopes it will lead to better education for all students.
The sixth and final map presented to the board Monday night was to show the last scenario. The map is known as the "middle ground" map because it combines statistics on students reading proficiency and how close students live to each school. But some board members say they can't see any major changes on the new map.
There will still be a few meetings where parents can come to hear the proposals and voice any concerns.
Superintendent Beverly Reep says she would like a decision by December in order for construction to be complete for the 2011school year.
