Officials Fighting Two Fires In Greenville

Fire officials were busy this afternoon in Greenville fighting two fires that happened around the same time and area.

The first was at the Carriage House apartment complex off of Charles Blvd. Officials say the second floor of the apartment received substantial damage and that the fire began from a candle. The occupant of that apartment has been displaced and the red cross is helping that person.

Then right down the road, at the intersection of Elm St. and Charles Blvd. officials also put out a garage fire. They say the fire was in a detatched garage and the garage is a total loss, along with the RV inside.

Officials say no one was injured in either fire.

SD doesn't understand the difference between fire service and military service. Firefighters are risking their lives EVERYDAY, unlike the military who serves in tours. We both stand for the US, we both protect our citizens, and we both work for the greater cause of our communities and families. We ALL do an amazing job in our profession. By the way SD, how many times in the news do you see a person in the military killing someone, robbing, selling drugs, or domestic abuse? At least every other day. By your meaningless accusations that firemen never do anything, first take into account that us firemen as a whole seek to protect lives, on and off shift. Our high standards for life safety are shown by our ability to maintain positive community relations as well as our drive to better the community we live in.

if you really think that 98% of the time firefighters do nothing, I challenge you to work a 24 hour shift with them. A Saturday night on EMS 1 or Eng 1, post ECU game sounds like a good time for you to ride along...It's very obvious that you know nothing about the profession...

Hey brother. The word on the street is there are no worries when shift 2 is working. Good job today though. Way to keep the city safe!

Can't agree with the comparison to military. 98% of the time firemen do absolutely nothing....and they're never in a foreign country having to worry about being ambushed or being blown up by a roadside bomb.

No day off for emergency personnel. They do a great service to their communities, like military people.
