You say how much it is worth but do not say how many plants or the weight of said plants. How did you come up with the 26k figure? Also how do we know this was planted. Pot is a weed and it could have been growing wild. Next up is why is our Sheriff office doing this. The job of the Sheriff office is protecting and serving the people. Our sheriff office is not to be used to enforce federal mandates and regulations. Reason we have drug crime is because the dealers cannot count on the elected sheriffs to protect them. So they protect themselves the best ways they can. Yes if someone robs a dealer that dealer should be able to go to the peace officers and ask for help. That is job of the sheriff to keep the peace and help the people. Also according to the federal mandates hemp is the same as marijuana as is outlawed also. Why are we not busting all the hemp farmers in the area. Hemp deos have trace THC in it. But then again your body natural makes cannabinols and without them we die.

You should spend more time trying to get crack dealers off the street.People who smoke crack are more likely to break the law any means necessary to get what they want, a pot smoker will just go to a buddy.Yes pot is a drug, but we should focus on the more DANGEROUS drugs on the streets and actually put tax payers money to work for a good cause.?If u soent half the time looking for the crack dealers as you do the pot dealers then the streets would be safer.

Scott, It's not such a novel idea as you suggest. There are not enough officers to "watch the plot", given the number of plots of marijuana being grown. It is more feasible to destroy the plots as you find them and arrest the perps when you can. As for the effects of marijuana vs alcohol, its all relative. Not all alcohol drinkers have bad dispositions and operate without a clear thought the next day. And not all pot smokers are clear headed and pleasant to be around the next day. HINT: Both pot and alcohol are impairing substances that inhibit the ability to act and perform in a "normal" manner. I don't drink or smoke pot, but I have seen the effects of each substance and I have never seen or heard of any person smoking pot or drinking being accused of doing something smart. Those that don't share my thoughts or feelings about a subject are not necessarily wrong or pot heads. Other opinions are welcomed as long as they are spoken without the fog of alcohol or pot present...even yours.

waste of tax dollars, pot is a naturally growing plant!! the prescription drugs that half of you people are hooked on are A LOT worse! the problem is that since it is a naturally growing plant the government Cant tax it because they cant control the growing of it, lets see what happens in 15 years when tobacco is made illegal

People shot almost every night somewhere in eastern Carolina because drugs are illegal and the system can't/won't accept being wrong. Sad.

What???: You're right there is nothing to sell, but the guys who wanted to sell it are free to keep trying. So you just postponed the inevitiable. A few months from now that person will be selling his new crop, or sooner with the crop from somewhere else that wasn't found. If they would watch the plot and then find out who's it is they could tail that person to see if there are any more plots. Then you get to find more plants and catch the perp as well. What a novel idea. Also, I know people who smoke it everyday and people who get hammered with alcohol everyday after work. Guess which ones function with a better demeanor and clarity the next day. HINT: Its not the drinker. I don't smoke, but I still think it should be legalized and taxed just like alcohol. Just because someone doesn't share your view on the subject doesn't necessarily make them wrong or "pot heads." I'm sure some people felt just like you do during prohibition and we see how that turned out.
