Hundreds of ECU freshman were unloading their cars and with the help of friends and family members moving all their things to their dorm room.
Freshman Raven Alston was busy trying to move in but she along with many others say she shopped on a budget this year.
Her mom was laid off within the past year, and has since found a job, but she says it still meant they had to budget what they spent.
Despite some cutbacks freshman say they are excited for their first year of school.
Classes begin on Tuesday for ECU students.
