A blaze in a North Carolina wildlife refuge has scorched about 40 acres.
U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service officials said Friday that work was under way to contain the fire in the Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge in Dare County.
A single-engine air tanker plane was dropping water on the wildfire to slow its spread while other workers sought to cut a containment line.
