Authorities say a Good Samaritan was killed this morning while attempting to help a suspected drunk driver with his disabled vehicle.
State troopers say it happened around 1:00 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 158 and Barco Road in Currituck County. They say the drunk driver's pickup truck had stalled in the intersection and the two were trying to flag down other drivers to help. A tractor trailer driver stopped, but another pickup truck didn't and struck the drunk man's pickup and the two men.
The Good Samaritan died at the scene, while the other driver was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the second pickup truck was taken to a Norfolk hospital with serious injuries.
Names of those involved in the crash have not yet been released.
