The National Park Service says that a single engine plane crashed this morning in Kill Devil Hills.
Park Spokeswoman Cindy Holda says that the fixed wing Fantasy Air SRO crashed in a wooded area of the Wright Brothers National Memorial park near the Baum Bay housing area just before 11 this morning.
Officials say that both men in the plane were able to walk away from the crash, but the pilot suffered serious head injuries near his eye socket and had to be flown to Vidant Medical Center.
The passenger was taken to an Outer Banks Hospital to be checked out.
Holda says that the FAA will be arriving Monday to investigate.
