RALEIGH (AP) - With the Bonner Bridge closed for repairs, the Division of Motor Vehicles is working with the ferry division of the Department of Transportation to provide service to residents of Hatteras Island.
The unit will leave on board the Stumpy Point ferry and arrive in Rodanthe on Dec. 17. It will offer extended service hours to residents while on the island. The unit will park as usual at the Dare County Civic Center on NC Highway 12 throughout its visit.
It will be open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 18, and from 8 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 19.
NCDMV mobile units offer driver license services to rural areas across the state, and they also issue North Carolina identification cards.
