An elderly man from Great Britain was rescued off our coast this morning by the U.S. Coast Guard after being unconscious for several hours.
A MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Elizabeth City rescued Trevor Wilson from his 24-foot sailboat around 9:00 a.m. some 70 miles east of Kitty Hawk.
The 72-year-old man says he was unconscious for seven hours after he apparently fell and hit his head. Wilson was able to activate his emergency position indicating radio beacon around 6:00 a.m.
Wilson was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for treatment.
