An Eastern Carolina dentist has admitted to cheating Medicaid.
Dr. Francis Bald, who has practices in Elizabeth City and Nags Head, has agreed to pay back $114,000 in restitution.
Bald was one of nine North Carolina health care providers arrested last December as part of a sweep by the Attorney General's Medicaid Investigations Division. Six others pleaded guilty earlier this year.
Bald pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted medical assistance provider fraud and was sentenced by Wake County District Court Judge Ned Mangum to 60 months of supervised probation in addition to paying the money back. If Bald violates the terms of his probation, the Attorney General's Office says he could face up to 90 days in jail.
