A rape suspect wanted in Dare County has been captured in New York.
The Dare County Sheriff's Office says 30-year-old Shane Dennis of Colington was indicted this spring on charges of sexually abusing a juvenile.
The sheriff's office says he left the area as the investigation unfolded and was located in New York State, where he was apprehended by the New York State Police. He was subsequently charged with being a Fugitive from North Carolina.
Dennis has been extradited back to Dare County where he was served with the indictments.
