Deputies say a woman made up a story that someone impersonating a police officer stopped her vehicle and then sexually assaulted her.
Back on April 4th Currituck County deputies say they received a report of a woman sexually assaulted by a fake cop on Highway 158 in Barco. The woman said the man asked her to get out of her vehicle, punched her in the face and then sexually assaulted her.
Deputies say they were able to prove inconsistencies in the woman's account early in the investigation. They say today she confessed that everything was fabricated and her injuries were self-inflicted.
Deputies say at this time no charges have been filed against the woman.
