A man considered a prime suspect in a killing in Portland, Oregon 15 years ago, is now under arrest here in the east.
Police in Dare County arrested 46-year-old Samuel Etheridge in the town of Wanchese on Monday. The arrest came nearly 15 years to the day of the murder of 59-year-old John Phillips at an apartment in Portland. Investigators reopened the case in January.
Etheridge is in the Dare County Jail awaiting extradition to Oregon.
