The cause of a fire that swept through three homes and damaged six cars over the weekend on the Outer Banks is still unknown.
The SBI was on the scene on Tuesday and has since returned to Raleigh. They say at this point the cause of the fire is listed as undetermined
The fire happened about 9:30 Saturday night in the Pine Island section of Corolla in Currituck County.
Fire officials say the fire started in a home on Cottage Cove Road with 18 people inside.
Six cars there were destroyed. The fire quickly spread to two other homes, another on Cottage Cove Road and a home on Hicks Bay Lane. No one was at either of those homes at the time of the fire.
It took several hours for several fire crews to get the fire under control.
