The search for a missing 14-year-old kayaker ended Sunday morning as deputies found the teen's body on the shore near his abandoned kayak.
Our affiliate, WAVY reports 14-year-old Justin Greene borrowed a friend's kayak in Kitty Hawk on Friday morning.
The Coast Guard said an hour later that kayak was found with Greene's fishing gear and cell phone but the teen was nowhere in sight.
A 10-hour search was launched on the water and in the air by the Coast Guard. That search was suspended Saturday afternoon.
By Sunday morning, the Currituck County Sheriff's Office said they found Greene's body near the Wright Memorial bridge, where the kayak was abandoned.
The Coast Guard reports the teen was not wearing a life jacket.
