Boat Capsizes In Rough Seas Between Hatteras And Ocracoke, Four Rescued

Four boaters had to be rescued Friday night when their boat capsized due to the rough seas.

Hyde County public information officer Jamie Carter tells WITN the 23 foot boat capsized late in the afternoon between Hatteras Inlet and Ocracoke.

Carter says the ocean current swept the boaters two miles to Ocracoke where they were rescued around 7:00 p.m.

A U.S. Coast Guard Jayhawk helicopter transported one of the boaters to the hospital in serious condition. Carter says the other three are O.K.
