Hyde County Deputy Terminated

A deputy in Hyde County has been fired.

WITN spoke with the Sheriff Friday morning, and he confirmed Blake Cutrell was terminated.

Cutrell worked at the Sheriff's Department for the past 4 years.

When asked why, the Sheriff told us it was a personnel issue and could not be discussed further. He did say the issue is still under investigation.

The residents in Hyde county need to open their eyes to whats happening in their towns. The Hyde county Sheriffs dept has 12 deputies, but they are never to be seen untill lunch time at Martelles. If they would actually patroll through Engelhard, they might catch one of the local drug dealers making a deal out in public at one of the gas stations. Or, they may possibly round up 10-12 vagrants who spend the day drinking their beer and wine in public. Who knows...maybe even say something to our local dancer who blocks the entrance to local business with his daily dance routine. David Mason is a totally ineffective sheriff for. If he did his job the whole of Hyde would be a better place to live. Don't blame the deputies...they're just doing what their boss instructs them to do. It's beyond me how Mason was re-elected given his track record. Hyde county has an 8 million investmeni a courthouse and jail. It's about time to put both of them to use.

If he did get hired in Belhaven he is only joining some of the ones recently hired by the Beaufort County Sheriffs Department. Whats the difference?

To:253 MP, I totally agree with you! Blake definitely got exactly what he deserved. I heard that he is now on at the police department in Belhaven. Should the residents in Belhaven fear that he will do it again? I feel for his wife and child. I sure hope he has learned his lesson!

Get out the dictionary and see what is the meaning of good. I dont think Good describe a person that walks out on and unborn son or newborn son.

How is it that we can let go of two people, for "Personal Reasons", in less than two weeks? Is there something that we should all know? As for those who think God played a role in this, He did, it is called Temptation. We as a public entrusted sacred things to this young man that he chose, of his own free will, not uphold. Do I think that Blake is a good young man, YES! However all of us can be judged upon his actions. He chose to act as an agent of the County and he has not represented us in our best interests. My heart goes out to his young wife and child as well as his parents. May this be a learning experience for our youth to always display good character in all of their actions, albeit in the public spotlight or not. I have two young daughters growing up in this county and expect those entrusted with such power to act as role models! This is a role that he chose and may he live with the mistakes that he has made.

This deputy was entrusted to uphold the law, serve/protect, have integrity, and lead by example. He failed to uphold those values and was punished. I can assure you the people of Hyde that in the military if a soldier, sailor, airmen, or marine fails to abide by the UCMJ then they get reprimanded. Quit BMGin' he was wrong and he should face his punishment and the residents of Hyde should accept this as well. This is the real world, not never never land.

Yes I agree once again, leave the man alone,Everybody makes mistakes and I loved him dearly, for his kindness, honesty and caring personality.with the residents of Hyde. He will be missed dearly, go and find you a good job that will appreciate you, You have learned from your mistakes Blake and there is another county that can use your skills as a depty. as they are saying, There are others on the force or that have been on the force that have done things that have covered up. so then they should stop pulling you down in the mud.I am just so tired, let's just let it all go and stop the comments. You all act like he has murdered somebody.KICK ROCKS
