Hyde County Deputy Fired After Indictment

A Hyde County deputy sheriff has been fired after his indictment that he repeatedly tased two people.

The indictment says Deputy Mike Gaskill "willingly and feloniously restrained" Roland Cooper on April 8th of last year and assaulted him by repeatedly using a Taser.

The second case happened on June 20th, 2008. That indictment says Tyree Bond was assaulted when the deputy used a Taser on him for 24 seconds.

Gaskill, according to a statement from Sheriff David Mason, was a certified law enforcement officer with approximately three years experience.

Gaskill is facing two felonious restraint charges and two misdemeanor simple assault charges. His court date is September 11th.

Agood deed never goes unpunished. Lock up the officer and let the law breaker go free. I hope I am on the jury when he is tried. He will be found not guilty quicker than the idiot he tased got out of jail.

The cars do belong to the deputies living there and close by. Call the sheriff's dept and verify it if you don't believe it, I'll even give you the number, 926-3171. They drive their company cars home because they get called out even when they are suppose to be off. They have HYDE COUNTY wrote on them because they belong to Hyde County Sheriff's Dept. DUH!!! I think you should check with all the counties around us. They all allow their deputies to drive their cars home. Maybe in the city they check them out, but in the city, when they say you are off, they are off. From personal experience, there is no such thing as "off" here. Even when a deputy is scheduled off, they get calls to go out. If it were me that they were responding to, I wouldn't want to have to wait for them to drive their personal vehicle to the sheriff's dept and check out a company car to come help me. Generally when an officer is called, they are needed right then, not when it is convenient.

About the fence Around the county. I hope it is built real deep with a firm foundation. Cause these white collars are snakes. They would not profile themselves and stand up to climb over a fence. Like the snakes would crawl on the belly and go under the fence. Gunsmoke you are so right.Mike dont fit in very well uh. LL if u get Mike over there You will be a winner. Good Luck
