Coast Guard Rescues Two After Shrimp Boat Sinks

Two fishermen were rescued after their shrimp boat sank off Avon Wednesday morning.

The fisherman aboard the 41-foot Rose Mary made a distress call that their boat was taking on water.

The Coast Guard says the boat sank in about five minutes.

A Jayhawk helicopter from Elizabeth City hoisted the two people to safety. They were flown back to the Coast Guard station in good condition.
