Most 911 systems refer to the actual phones in the Comm Centers. Even if there was a Back Up system J...the possibility of a Lightening Strike happenning can fry those lines! That's the main problem that Currituck County had! Yes it probably zapped their actual consoles, but the lines themselves probably or may have had to been replaced as well. Even the newest phone systems that do have this sort of Backup you refer to, won't do any good if the lightening has fried the lines! How bout when people dig before calling, and cut the fiber optic cables? No back up for that. Just Food for thought!
