Teen Killed In Beach Car Crash

A teenager is dead after a two car crash in Nags Head.

Nags Head police say 16-year-old Reid DeBlieu of Manteo died at Norfolk Sentara Hospital Monday night. DeBlieu was a junior at Manteo High School.

The accident happened around 5:20 p.m.at Highway 158 and Danube Street.

Police say DeBlieu was in a car being driven by 17-year-old Taylor Carawan of Wanchese. Her car was trying to turn left onto Danube Street and was hit broadside by a Jeep heading in the other direction.

According to police, neither speed nor alcohol was a factor in the fatal accident. Their investigation is continuing.

    Reid will always be missed. I am still in shock right now. When i saw Taylor today, i couldnt help but cry myself. He did'nt deserve this. Neither did Taylor. Anyways, im praying for everyone affected by this. Everything will be okay.

    To the family of Reid...our sons went to school together since preschool...he will be dearly missed..Our prayers are with you all..To Taylor and family...our prayers are with all of you. Taylor...be strong. Time will help you all get through this...please just remember that.

    I will pray for both these families. My brother got killed at 19 in a car accident. I know what it feels like to lose a loved one unexpectedly. It is devastating. My prayers are with you all!
