2 Rescued By Coast Guard, Good Samaritan After Sailboat Takes On Water Near Ocracoke

Two people were rescued by the Coast Guard and a good Samaritan, after their sailboat began to take on water.

Coast Guard officials say it happened in the Pamlico Sound near Ocracoke. The crew of the Sea-Ya, a 22-foot sailboat, contacted the Coast Guard around 1:10 asking for help.

Crews were dispatched on a 25-foot response boat from Ocracoke, and a 47-foot Motor Life Boat from Hatteras Inlet.

A good Samaritan arrived on scene and took one of the two crewmembers from the Sea-Ya onto their boat.

Crews arrived on scene and aided in dewatering the Sea-Ya, which was later towed to Ocracoke.

No injuries were reported.
