Crews Find Body Of Missing Outer Banks Swimmer

Authorities on the Outer Banks say they have recovered the body of a 19-year-old who was last seen Wednesday morning near the Oregon Inlet campgrounds.

Parks Services crews recovered Brian Mouring's body at Bodie Island.

Coast Guard crews searched much of the day Wednesday before calling off the search.

The U.S. Coast Guard says the teenager from Williamsburg, Virginia was last seen around 10:00 a.m. Wednesday.

A Jayhawk helicopter from Elizabeth City, along with a 47-foot Motor Life Boat crew and 25-foot Response Boat-Small crew from Oregon Inlet all searched for the 19-year-old swimmer.

Crews from Nags Head Fire and Rescue Department, Nags Head Ocean Rescue, North Carolina Park Rangers and North Carolina Fish and Game assisted with the search for Mouring.

I believe this is the 2nd or 3rd person off the coast of NC that has drowned in the past month. Please understand that the rip currents are really bad. Please be careful out there. My prayers to the family of those who have died.

I was there shortly after everyone starting searching, and I can tell you first hand, search and rescue put every resource available for the effort. Only darkness had pulled everyone back, otherwise it will put rescurers life in danger.
