A Jacksonville woman has been charged with DWI after an accident that left her seriously injured Wednesday night.
Jacksonville police say it happened around 9:00 p.m. on U.S. 17 and Broadhurst Road.
They say Edith Clark's SUV was stopped in the right lane of the highway, while Amy Severson's vehicle was heading in the same direction on U.S. 17 and had a green light.
Severson's vehicle hit the front left quarter panel of Clark's SUV, and Clark was trapped for some time inside.
She was first taken to Onslow Memorial Hospital and then airlifted to Vidant Medical Center.
In addition to DWI, Clark has been charged with careless and reckless driving and a red light violation.
