Deputies now say there were only two vehicles found Saturday in Alligator Bay, and both were reported stolen some 14 years ago.
A person fishing discovered one of the vehicles Saturday afternoon.
Onslow County deputies at first thought there were three submerged vehicles. But the third object in the water turned out to be a sunken wooden boat.
No bodies were found in either vehicle. Deputies believe the vehicles, both Hyundai's, were reported stolen to Jacksonville police in June 1997 and July 1998.
No one has been arrested yet in the case.
Onslow County deputies are investigating after three vehicles were found submerged in the water Saturday at Alligator Bay in Sneads Ferry.
Deputies and rescue personnel were called to the scene around 2 p.m. after a person fishing discovered one of the vehicles.
It was later discovered that two more vehicles were submerged in the bay.
Deputies say it appears that the vehicles had been in the water for an extended period of time.
Deputies say no occupants were found in the vehicles.
