One of the Marine's injured in a motorcycle crash Sunday afternoon in Onslow County has been released from the other hospital, the other is in fair condition.
26-year-old James Prickett was airlifted to Vidant Medical Center and is in fair condition. 23-year-old Guadalupe Torres was transported to a hospital on base and has been released. They're both charged with careless and reckless driving, going 80 in a 55 mile per hour zone of NC 24 in Onslow County. Pickup truck driver, 73-year-old Tyrone Parker of Richlands is charged with failure to yield the right away, which caused them to crash into him.
Two motorcyclists had to be hospitalized Sunday afternoon with serious injuries after a wreck in Onslow County.
According to troopers a group of motorcyclists were traveling west on NC 24 when a pickup truck made a right turn onto the highway from Haw Branch Road.
Camp Lejeune Marine James Prickett was driving one motorcycle. Troopers say he ran into the back of the truck and was ejected. His motorcycle then burst into flames. He was airlifted to Vidant Medical Center with serious injuries.
A second Camp Lejeune Marine, Guadalupe Torres, ran off the road to the right, overturned, and was also ejected. He was transported to a hospital on base.
Both Marines are charged with careless and reckless driving. Troopers say they were going a minimum of 80 mph at the time of the collision. The speed limit on the highway is 55 mph.
The pickup truck driver, Tyrone Parker of Richlands, is charged with failure to yield right away.
Traffic in the westbound lane of NC 24 was rerouted for around 45 minutes. The highway is now reopen.
