Two marines accused of raping a girl on a dirt road this summer are facing new charges.
Jacksonville police arrested Lance Corporal William Conner of Dayton, Virginia and PFC George Nelson of Marysville, Ohio in August. They're both now charged with additional counts of indecent liberties with a child charge and felony conspiracy. Nelson also faces another charge of statutory rape.
The Camp Lejeune Marines are both still behind bars, and they're due in court again October 25th.
Two more Marines who are assigned to Eastern Carolina bases are accused of raping underage girls.
Court records in Onslow County show that Lance Corporal William Conner of Dayton, Virginia and PFC George Nelson of Marysville, Ohio were arrested Friday by Jacksonville police.
The 21-year-old Conner was charged with statutory rape, indecent liberties with a child, contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile and two counts of crimes against nature.
Nelson, who is 19, is facing statutory rape and sexual office, indecent liberties with a child and contributing to the delinquency of a child. The two are stationed at Camp Lejeune.
Arrest warrants say the victim was 13 years old and the rape happened on a dirt road in the city sometime between June 1st and June 15th.
Two weeks ago two Marines based at New River were charged in connection with the rape of an 11 and 13 year old at the Days Inn after the two ran away from home.
