A drug that is rampant in the Middle East has landed two local mini-mart workers in jail.
Alcohol Law Enforcement Agents arrested 21-year-old Mohammed Mosleh Al-Somairy and 31-year-old Adiel Ahmed Elsumeri, both of Jacksonville, following a routine investigation at the Expressway Mini-Mart on Gum Branch Road.
Authorities say the two men were selling Khat, an illegal stimulant that is illegal in the U.S. but used widely in parts of the Middle East and Africa.
Al-Somairy and El Sumeri are being held at the Onslow County Jail under a $50,000 bond.
