Troopers said a 26-year-old mother of two pulled onto the highway, t-boning with a Cadillac.

Trooper Todd Williams of the Highway Patrol in Onslow County said at 7:30 this morning, 26-year-old Sherri Purdy of Richlands was stopped at Gregory Fork Road and Highway 258/24. With her two children in her mini-van, troopers said she pulled onto the highway, but did not see the on coming white Cadillac, driven by 25-year-old James Parker of Beulaville.

Trpr. Williams said Parker's car hit the driver's side of Purdy's mini-van.

The mother was taken to Onslow Memorial Hospital, where she remains but is expected to recover. Parker was also transported to the hospital with minor injuries. The two children were not injured.

The wreck caused significant traffic congestion during the morning commute in Onslow County along Highway 258/24.

Purdy now faces a charge of failure to yield right-of-way to on-coming traffic.
